Who We Are

Kuzi was born out of a passion for living well and the firm belief that African products can be both beautiful and useful. So often the design of lifestyle products is separated from the knowledge of indoor plants, creating a barrier to growing and displaying your plant collection. Kuzi works with a variety of Kenyan producers and manufacturers to bring you an edited selection of the best interior design and greenery.

Our products are designed taking into account years of landscaping and gardening experience to provide pocket-friendly ways to live well without the hassle. We also produce a range of products that reflect our love of African artistry, allowing you to enjoy a little bit of the Kuzi philosophy even if you are not blessed with green fingers!

Meet The Team

KATY

I’ve spent years working in landscaping and interior ‘greening’ and there were huge gaps in the market here making it difficult to have a home or office filled with plants and great products. Elvis and I began working together and saw this gap as a challenge that could be taken on with our combined skills. When we first started out we had a handful of products and no plants. Five years later we stock 100s of Kenya made pots, stands, plants and accessories and work with almost 30 Kenyan artisans, suppliers and entrepreneurs as well as running our own pottery. I love product design, collaborating with talented makers to come up with new ideas and communicating my love of plants through our social media, shops and our website.

ELVIS

I started my career working as an accountant for four years with an N.G.O. and then moved on to work within the landscaping and interior décor industry.

I enjoy gardening and innovative ways of living and furnishing homes. Being a finance person, I have fun building back-end systems and crunching spreadsheets but a day meeting people and making their living space enjoyable is a bonus!

DAN

Hi, I’m Dan. I started out with Kuzi as their first employee back when we had no greenhouse and fewer products! My role started with managing the nursery and then I moved on to a delivery driver allowing me to get to know Kuzi customers across Nairobi. I am now the Procurement Manager making sure we have enough stock and I also assist with remote orders.

EMMANUEL

I joined Kuzi as a casual during the pandemic working in the nursery. Whenever we had customers I found I enjoyed talking to them and helping them to find the right plant and pot. When Kuzi were opening the Village Market shop it was a great opportunity to grow my skills. I love working in a public-facing role and getting to know the many customers who pop by for a new plant, a chat, or advice.

ESTHER

When Kuzi opened their Village Market store I joined and ran the shop along with Emmanuel. When I first started I didn’t know much about houseplants but now I’m comfortable chatting to any customer to help them find the best plant for their lifestyle or help them troubleshoot if they have an issue!

SHIRO

I run the nursery at the Karen Hardy HQ, having started as a casual. It is my job to ensure that we have enough of our home grown plants and that all plants we source from other growers are in the right pots and are ‘hardened off’ before sale. I also assist selling at the nursery and showroom and love finding our customers the perfect plant to add to their collection.

FELIX

I have worked for Kuzi since xxx. I have always enjoyed fixing and making things and using my hands. At the beginning of 2024 I started my apprenticeship at the pottery where I am specializing in glazing. It’s been a lot to learn but I have been really enjoying all the different methods. I also load and unload the kilns and get everything QC’d and packed up ready to hit the shops.

GEORGE

I am a potter with over 20 years experience. I am have produced Kuzi’s pots since 2020 and in 2023 Kuzi took over the management of the pottery I worked at. Together we have worked to increase the range of pots and expand the production capabilities. As such I now have Felix working for me as I teach him about the pottery process.

FANNUEL

I have been a driver in Nairobi for many years and joined Kuzi in 2023 as a delivery driver. You’ll meet me if you have an order from Kuzi that is being delivered within the city and will also see me frequently in the Village Market shop when I’m restocking.
